FERNANDINA BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT ALSO PROVIDED THE REPORT TO US, PROVIDING SIX YEARS CAR AND PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT DATA FOR THE EIGHTH STREET CORRIDOR AND FDOT AS REQUESTED ACCORD A WALK-THROUGH WITH MAINSTREET TO IDENTIFY ALL OF THE CONCERNS ON THE CORRIDOR. A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE ANNUAL REVENUE BUDGET REMAINS TIED TO GRANTS AND UPCOMING EVENT INCOME. THE CITY MANAGER AND THE DEBBIE CITY MANAGER, THE POLICE, FLEET, IT, BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE, IT IS PARKS AND REC WRECK WE ALL WORK TOGETHER, WITHOUT THAT WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO. AS WELL AS THE, SPECIFICALLY, THE VISIONING WORK OR THE OUTREACH THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING TO THE COMMUNITY. AND WE HAVE A FLYER THAT WE HAVE PROVIDED TO YOUR STAFF. COMMUNITY VISIONING IS A FANCY PLANNING WORD THAT MEANS GATHERING INFORMATION FROM FOLKS THAT LIVE AND PLAY IN FERNANDINA BEACH. SO EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY HAVE DONE SOME VISIONING IN THE PAST, IT ALL CAN BE CONSTRUED AS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. ESPECIALLY WHEN WE REACH OUT TO THE CITIZENS THAT LIVE AND WORK HERE, AND HAVE A STAKE IN THE GROUND AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE HERE. THIS ALLOWS US TO SEE THE TOWN THROUGH THE EYES OF WHAT THEY SEE; AND SEE WHAT IS LACKING IN THEIR COMMUNITY. SO, I LIKE TO LOOK AT THIS, WHEN YOU GO ON VACATION TO SOMEPLACE, "OH, I LOVE IT SO MUCH!" WHY DO YOU LOVE IT? YOU DON'T KNOW THE REASON. WE HAVE THE SKILLS AND EXPERTISE TO CHARACTERIZE THE ARCHITECTURE, THE WIDTH OF THE STREET OR A MYRIAD OF THINGS. SPECIFICALLY OUR THREE CITY RECREATION CENTERS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO UNDERSTAND THE PROGRAMMING THAT HAPPENS THERE, AND THE CAPACITY EITHER FOR EXPANSION OR CONTRACTION, LONG-RANGE PLANS FOR THE FACILITIES. WE BUDGETED $100,000 IN THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE MASTER PLAN. IT IS AN EXHAUSTIVE STUDY. OUR RECOMMENDATIONS IS THAT IT SPANS TO FISCAL YEARS PROPOSAL IS YOU HAVE $142,000 FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR AND $85,000 NEXT FISCAL YEAR FOR PHASE 2 OF THE STUDY, THIS IS BUDGETED. OUR STAFF IS HERE. AND THE FACILITIES STUDY THAT WE HAVE DONE OR ABOUT THE CONDITION, ENGINEERING STUDIES THERE WAS NOT MUCH ANALYSES ON THE CAPACITY, THE TYPES OF PROBLEMS THAT WE WERE DOING, THE NUMBER OF USERS, THAT TYPE OF THING IT WAS MORE OF AN ENGINEERING FOCUS. AND I DON'T THINK I WANT TO SPEND THE LEVEL OF DOLLARS THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT-- I CAN NARROW THIS DOWN A WHOLE LOT MORE-- TO THOSE FACILITIES. IF YOU LOOK THROUGH THAT REPORT, THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT WE NEED AN IDENTITY. WE NEED THEM TO ALL LOOK ALIKE. YEAH, THIS MIGHT BE TRUE. BUT THIS COMMUNITY THEN DIDN'T, AND I DON'T THINK THIS COMMUNITY HAS NOW THE STOMACH FOR THE KINDS OF DOLLARS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT, ON DOING ALL OF THESE TYPES OF THINGS. PRETTY ROBUST. MY DESIRE WOULD BE TO SCALE THIS DOWN.
