STAFF REPORT. MARINA MANAGEMENT UPDATES. WHO WANTS TO GO FIRST? YOU, JEREMIAH, IF YOU'RE READY. GOOD EVENING, JEREMIAH GLISSON, DEPUTY CITY MANAGER. JUST WANT TO PROVIDE YOU A BRIEF UPDATE ON MARINA MANAGEMENT. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THE WATERFRONT ADVISORY BOARD HAD OPINED AND HAD AN OPINION ON HERE LAST YEAR AND SUPPORTED BRINGING THE MANAGEMENT OF THE MARINA IN-HOUSE. AND OASIS, WHICH WAS COMBINED TO ALLIANCE MARINA HERE JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO, THEY SENT A NOTICE THAT THERE IS INTENTION TO TERMINATE, WALK AWAY FROM THIS MARINA CONTRACT.

IN SHORT, ANY MARINAS THAT THEY DON'T OWN, THEY'RE WALKING AWAY FROM. SO THIS SUBJECT CAME UP AT THE VISITING SESSION, BECAUSE IT WAS JUST FRESH INFORMATION, CAME TO THE VISITING SESSION, AND THERE WAS A ROBUST CONVERSATION ABOUT IT. AND ON THE 3-3 MEETING, THAT'S MARCH 3RD, THE CITY COMMISSION WILL BE CONSIDERING INTENT TO TERMINATE FROM OASIS MARINAS, THAT AGREEMENT, AND THE CITY MANAGER IS RECOMMENDING BRINGING THE OPERATIONS OF THE MARINA IN-HOUSE. THERE WAS CONSENSUS THERE AT THE WORKSHOP TO DO THAT, BUT A FORMAL VOTE HASN'T HAPPENED YET, OF COURSE. THAT'S AT THE 3-3 MEETING, BUT THAT IS GOING TO BE. THE RECOMMENDATION OF CITY STAFF IS TO BRING IT IN-HOUSE. AND THEN OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, WE'LL WORK QUICKLY TO BRING THOSE OPERATIONS OVER.

THE OPTIONS FOR THE COMMISSION TO CONSIDER ARE WHAT THEY WERE BEFORE, WHICH IS RIGHT NOW.

OASIS IS RECOMMENDING REASSIGNING THE CONTRACT TO ANOTHER MARINA, ANOTHER MANAGEMENT COMPANY, TO GO OUT FOR AN RFP TO BRING IN A NEW MANAGEMENT COMPANY OR BRING IT IN-HOUSE. THOSE ARE THE THREE OPTIONS IN FRONT OF THE COMMISSION. CITY STAFF HAS THE SAME RECOMMENDATION, WHICH IS AS YOU'RE ON THE PRECIPICE OF TEARING APART THE MARINA BECAUSE OF THE DEMOLITION OF BRETTS, CONSTRUCTION OF SEAWALL, ALL THAT KIND OF THING, NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO GO OUT FOR AN RFP FOR MANAGEMENT SERVICES. IT'S A BIT... DISINGENUOUS TO SAY, HEY, COME MANAGE THIS MARINA AND LET'S EXECUTE A CONTRACT.

BUT WE'RE GOING TO BE TEARING EVERYTHING APART AND GOOD LUCK MEETING THOSE REVENUE BENCHMARKS. SO, UM, WE'LL SEE WHERE THAT CONVERSATION LEADS.

SO, ABSOLUTELY, KEEPING THE TEAM IN PLACE WOULD BE CRITICALLY IMPORTANT TO MAINTAIN CONTINUITY OF WORKMANSHIP, OPERATIONS, MANAGEMENT, EVERYTHING. ONE MORE, I'M SORRY. WOULD CHRIS GO WITH OASIS OR WOULD HE PLAN ON STAYING? THAT'S UP TO CHRIS, BUT OUR INTENTION IS TO KEEP CHRIS FERGUSON HERE, AND HE'S COMMITTED TO STAYING ON BOARD. MY QUESTION WAS, ARE THERE ANY OTHER FINANCIAL REPERCUSSIONS AGAINST THE CITY OR FOR THE CITY FOR THIS HAPPENING, JUST FOR ME TO KNOW? OUTSIDE OF, NO, NO, THERE'S NOT. I MEAN, THERE'S. AS I MENTIONED, THE FINDER'S FEE ASSOCIATED WITH STAFF IS NOT GOING TO BE A PART OF THIS CONVERSATION BECAUSE THEY'RE WALKING AWAY. THERE'S STILL THE SNAG-A-SLIP ISSUE, BUT THAT'S SEPARATE FROM OASIS, AND WE'VE REPORTED THAT TO LEGAL, AND WE'RE STILL FOLLOWING THAT BANKRUPTCY THAT HAPPENED OCTOBER OF LAST YEAR, WHERE SNAG-A-SLIP WENT OUT OF BUSINESS, AND THEY OWE US MONEY. SO WE'RE STILL PURSUING THAT, BUT THAT'S REALLY SEPARATE FROM THIS. BUT NO, THERE'S NO OTHER. I'M SURE THERE'S UNDISCOVERABLES, CHAIR. I MEAN, THERE'S SOME THINGS THAT WE'RE GOING TO ENCOUNTER. PART OF THE AGENDA ITEM THAT'S GOING TO COMMISSION IS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE EVERYTHING NECESSARY TO BRING IT IN-HOUSE. A GOOD EXAMPLE IS THE MARINAGO SOFTWARE, WHICH IS THE SOFTWARE THAT OASIS CURRENTLY USES. IT'S BEEN A BIT PROBLEMATIC WHERE THEY'RE NOT JUST GOING TO TRANSFER THAT SOFTWARE TO US, WHICH WE'RE OKAY WITH.

THERE'S BEEN SOME CHALLENGES WITH IT, SO WE'RE WE'RE EXPLORING DACWA, WHICH IS ONE OF THE LARGEST MARINA MANAGEMENT MARKETING SOFTWARES OUT THERE. HAD A GOOD CALL WITH THEM TODAY AND LOOKING TO BRING THEM ON BOARD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

TO HELP WITH MARKETING, MANAGEMENT, RESERVATIONS, POINT OF SALE, EVERYTHING THAT IS INVOLVED IN MANAGING THE MARINA. SO CHRIS AND HIS COMPANY HAS ALREADY BEEN WORKING ON EXPLORING THAT SOFTWARE AND GETTING IT IN PLACE. AND THAT WILL BE PART OF THE PACKAGE THAT GOES TO THE CITY COMMISSION MARCH 3RD. TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO DO EVERYTHING NECESSARY TO QUICKLY BRING EVERYTHING IN-HOUSE SO WE DON'T MISS A BEAT. YOU NAILED A LOT OF MY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERED THEM.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT CHRIS PRESENTED TO US WAS A NEW LOGO FOR THE MARINA AT THE LAST MEETING. IS THAT TRADEMARKED BY OASIS ALLIANCE? DOES THAT BELONG TO US? IT'S VERY MUCH, YEAH.

IT'S VERY MUCH BACK OFFICE FUNCTIONS THAT WE DON'T SEE THAT THEY WERE DOING IN THE BACKGROUND. DO THEY HAVE ANY HOLD ON US TO SAY? YOU CAN HAVE IT AT A COST? WHAT WE'RE HAVING TO DO NOW WITH THIS SUPPLEMENT IS A STATE STATUTE-DRIVEN REQUIREMENT TO, THEIR WORD. LIST OF KIND OF VERY BROAD PROJECTS IN THE CRA.
