DURING THIS CALL, WE LEARNED THAT BENTLEY WAS RIDING HIS BICYCLE IN THE PARKING LOT OF ZAXBY'S. HE OVERHEARD THE FAMILY OF A MISSING LOVED ONE WHO HAS DEMENTIA FRANTICALLY CONVERSING.
THE LADY WAS EATING AT THE RESTAURANT WITH HER FAMILY. SHE WENT TO USE THE REST ROOM AND NEVER CAME BACK. WITHOUT HESITATION, BENTLEY OBTAINED A DESCRIPTION OF HER, JUMPED ON HIS BICYCLE AND HEADED IN THE DIRECTION SHE WAS LAST SEEN GOING. HE ALSO FLAGGED DOWN SOME DEPUTIES AND LET THEM KNOW THAT SHE WAS MISSING. BENTLEY EVENTUALLY FOUND THE LADY IN FRONT OF BELLBIEL'S. SHE WAS OBVIOUSLY CRYING AND UPSET.
BENTLEY NOT ONLY STAYED WITH HER TO COMFORT HER, HE ASKED SOMEONE WHO HAD A CELL PHONE WALKING BY IF THEY WOULD CALL 911 FOR HIM.
BECAUSE BECAUSE OF BENTLEY'S ACTIONS, WE WERE ABLE TO RESPOND TO THE LOCATION, SAFELY RETRIEVE THIS WOMAN AND GET HER BACK TO HER LOVING FAMILY. THIS WAS A WONDERFUL ACT OF MATURITY AND GOOD CITIZENRY, AND FOR THAT, I WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT BENTLEY WITH A GOOD CITIZEN AWARD AND WISH HIM A GREAT JOB.

THAT PASSION EVENTUALLY GREW INTO SOMETHING BIGGER, I'M STANDING HERE TODAY BECAUSE I BELIEVE CREATIVE OUTLETS CAN CHANGE LIVES. ESPECIALLY FOR YOUNG CHILDREN WHO DON'T ALWAYS SEE A CLEAR PATH FOR THEMSELVES. NOT EVERY KID CONNECTS THROUGH TRADITIONAL SPORTS OR ACADEMICS.

THIS SURF, SKATE AND FILM FESTIVAL IS NOT JUST AN EVENT BUT IT'S AN OPPORTUNITY. AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE LOCAL TALENT, GIVE YOUTH A HEALTHY POSITIVE OUTLET. ENCOURAGE CREATIVITY, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND COMMUNITY PRIDE. HIGHLIGHTING THE UNIQUE CULTURE THAT MAKES AMELIA ISLAND SPECIAL. OUR ISLAND ALREADY HAS A STRONG SURF AND SKATE CULTURE. I SHOWED FILM, THE ONE THING I LIKE ABOUT FILM AND FESTIVAL IS LIVE MUSIC.I HAVE GILBERTO COME OUT AND DO A LIVE TRACK. WE RECORD THAT AND WE PUT THAT RECORDING ON THE FILM AND THEN WE PUT IT ON YOU TUBE FOR EVERYBODY TO SEE. MY GOAL IS TO, START MAKING THESE FILMS AND SELLING THEM THAT WE CAN GENERATE INCOME FOR THE COMMUNITY.
