THREE YEARS AGO, WHEN HE STARTED CARVING THIS JET, PAXTON CARVED THE STATUE. HE FINISHED IT UP DURING SHRIMP FEST TWO YEARS AGO. THEN WE TURNED IT OVER TO A LOCAL ARTIST, AND SHE HAD YOUNG PEOPLE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL COME IN AND PAINTING. THEN WHEN LISA TALKED TO ME, AND MARY TALKED TO ME ABOUT HAVING YOU ALL INVOLVED WITH NAMING HIM, I THOUGHT WAS A GREAT IDEA. WE NEED TO COME UP WITH A NAME FOR THE NEW STATUE. GREAT TO SEE WHAT YOU ALL DO IS IS AWESOME. SO FAR WE'VE HAD NOTHING BUT [00:05:03] YOUNG PEOPLE IN FERNANDINA PRETTY WELL INVOLVED WITH THIS CREATION OF HIM. POSSIBLY IT'S BEEN SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE ADDING A STORY ABOUT WHERE THE PIRATE CAME FROM, OR SOME FUN AND INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE PIRATE MIGHT BE NEAT TO PUT AT THE THE SITE OF THE STATUE AND REALLY JUST LOOKING TO YOU ALL FOR YOUR CREATIVITY, AND YOUR LEADERSHIP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
