EVERYBODY. TONIGHT WE ARE HERE REVISITING THE OPEN SPACE AND LOT C&D, AS A RECAP THE RIVERWALK IN THE AREA. THE SEAWALL HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THE -- THERE'S BEEN SOME OF THE BOAT PARKING, ALL OF THE BOAT TRAILER PARKING THAT YOU HAVE APPROVED ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO HAS BEEN INSTALLED , THIS IS THE AREA THAT WOULD GO BETWEEN THE PARKING AREA AND THE SEA WALK RIVER AREA WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TONIGHT. CAN YOU GO TO THE NEXT ONE THAT HAS A LABEL ON IT, I THINK IT WILL BE HERE FOR ME TO FOLLOW ALONG HERE. ON THE PLAN, YOU WILL SEE THE EXISTING GRANT BUT IT IS GOING TO BE NARROWED A BIT. CLOSELY, YOU CAN SEE UNDERNEATH THE RENDERING AN OUTLINE OF THE COURSE SO HE SHIFTED SLIGHTLY. BASICALLY, IN THE SAME LOCATION AND THERE IS THE SAME NUMBER OF THEM. THIS AREA IS REALLY THE ULTIMATE AND FLEXIBLE SPACE, THERE IS NO COST TO PUT IT IN BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY THERE. WITH THIS CONCEPT, YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO COME IN HERE, AND, LONG THIS WALK AND BACK OUT TO MAKE A CIRCLE. AND COME THROUGH THE GREEN SPACE. SO, THEY WOULD BE AS WIDE AS POSSIBLE, THEY WILL BE ABOUT EIGHT WIDE IS WHAT WE ARE RECOMMENDING SO THAT PEOPLE CAN WALK TO GATHER AND THERE ARE SHADE TREES SCHEDULED TO GO ALONG THIS WALKWAY, THEY HAVE NOT BEEN DETERMINED WHAT THEY WOULD BE. THAT SOMETHING WE WOULD LOOK TO DO WITH THE HELP OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT, OR WHOEVER, IS GOING TO BE FUNDING THOSE TREES. SO THEN, WITHIN THE WALKWAY, YOU WILL SEE THREE DIFFERENT SPOTS THAT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SOME ARTWORK OR THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A LANDSCAPE ELEMENT, SOMETHING TO -- YET TO BE DETERMINED BUT THERE ARE THREE LITTLE FOCAL AREAS RIGHT THERE. AND THEN HERE, FROM THE PARKING LOT IS AN AREA THAT IS MADE TO BE A VEHICLE ACCESS. IF YOU ARE HOLDING AN EVENT AND NEED TO UNLOAD CHAIRS OR SOMETHING.

YOU COULD DRIVE ON AND ACCESS THE GREEN FIELD THAT WAY. WHEN THE CITY STAFF NEEDS TO MOW THAT AREA, THEY CAN ACCESS IT THAT WAY. IF WE WOULD CHOOSE TO USE THIS AS ADDITIONAL PARKING FOR A LARGE EVENT LIKE SHOWROOM FAST, THAT WOULD BE THE ACCESS POINT FOR THAT PARKING AND THEY COULD PARK EITHER HERE ON THE GREEN OR ON THE COURTS. THERE IS A FENCE BETWEEN THE SHRUBS, THE HEDGE HERE AND THE PARKING AREA.

JUST TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM ACCESSING IT, GETTING OUT OF THEIR CAR, WALKING STRAIGHT INTO LANDSCAPING INTO THE PARK, WE WANT THEM TO USE PRESCRIBED ENTRANCES SO WE ARE NOT DAMAGING THE LANDSCAPE AS THEY COME IN AND GO OUT. REALLY OPEN FOR RECREATION MOST OF THE TIME, FRISBEE, DOG RUNNING, SPORTS GAMES LIKE I SAID, IT CAN ALSO BE USED FOR SPECIAL EVENTS, VENDORS CAN SET UP BOOTHS ON THAT LAWN. THEN RIGHT OVER HERE, THAT WOULD BE A CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA, IT IS PURPOSELY LOCATED AWAY FROM THE PARKING LOT AS I SAID, THERE IS A FENCE BETWEEN THE HEDGE AND PARKING AREA SO A LITTLE MEASURE OF COMFORT FOR PARENTS. WE ARE SUGGESTING A STRUCTURE THERE THAT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR MULTIPLE AGES AND ALSO A.D.A. ACCESSIBLE, KEEP IT SIMPLE. WE HAVE VERY LARGE PLAYGROUNDS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY BUT IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING FOR KIDS TO ENJOY ON THE WATERFRONT TOO.

THEN THIS PLAN INCLUDES RESTROOMS, NUMBER 18 RIGHT HERE. THIS WOULD BE CLOSE TO THE MULTIPURPOSE PAVILION AND THE CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA FOR CONVENIENCE THERE . IT WOULD BE SIMILAR IN NATURE TO WHAT WE HAVE AT SIMMONS ROAD PARK, THOSE TYPES OF RESTAURANTS -- RESTROOMS. WE RECOMMEND MAYBE THERE IS A TREATMENT FOR SOMETHING THAT IS COMPLEMENTARY TO WHATEVER THE PAVILION WOULD BE DESIGNED TO LOOK LIKE THAT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE WATERFRONT. WE HAVE NUMBER 19 RIGHT HERE. A POLLINATOR GARDEN, EXCUSE ME FOR BIRDS, BEES, AND BUTTERFLIES, THEN NEXT TO IT NUMBER 20 IS A PICNIC GROVE, SO THINK OF THIS WITH SHADE TREES, TALL SHADE TREES MAY BE BALD CYPRESS OR PALM TREES, OR SOME OTHER TYPE AND A 20 FOOT LONG PICNIC TABLE IN THE CENTER THAT COULD BE USED FOR GROUP PICNICS OR A COMMON TABLE, WE COULD SEE IT IN A COFFEE SHOP, IT WOULD BE A SHADED LOCATION. THE WAY THAT IT IS SITUATED, IT WOULD MINIMALLY IMPACT OF THE VIEW IF YOU WERE SITTING IN THE PARKING AREA , THERE ISN'T TOO MUCH THAT WOULD BE BLOCKED . THIS IS SIMILAR TO SOMETHING THAT ST. SIMONS HAS A LONGER WATERFRONT AND SEEMS TO BE A VERY POPULAR SPOT . WE WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND HERE, NUMBER 21 ALL ALONG THE SEAWALL. THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME HISTORICAL EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION. THIS COULD BE PLAQUES THAT SHOW A TIMELINE OF OUR HISTORY, WITH SOME IMPORTANT ELEMENTS OF HISTORY, FOR PEOPLE TO READ BUT IT WOULD NOT BE ANYTHING THAT WOULD BE TOO PROMINENT OR INTERFERING WITH ANYTHING. NOW YOU WANT TO APPROVE A LARGE PART 16 COURTS THAT WILL SERVE A FRACTION OF 1% OF OUR TAXPAYERS AND THEY NEED PARKING. THE CHARTER CAPTAINS AND PEOPLE THAT USE OUR VOTES IN -- BOTH IN OUR MARINA NEED PARKING AND WILL NEED THIS PARKING TAKEN UP BY PARTYGOERS, THE FEW BOAT TRAILER SLIPS ON THE PLAN ARE INSUFFICIENT TO SATISFY THE DEMAND FOR MARINA PARKING.

THAT'S WHY IT WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING THIS TONIGHT, WE ARE LOOKING AT AS THE COMMISSIONER SAID, AS HE SAID DURING THE QUESTION SESSION, THIS IS NOT THE FINAL APPROVAL, WHAT THIS IS A SAYING THE COMMISSION IS GIVING THUMBS UP, WE LOVE THIS CONCEPT OF THE COMMISSION SAYS YES TONIGHT, WE'RE SAYING LET'S GET THE GO-AHEAD, WE STILL NEED A REVIEW FROM THE HISTORIC COUNSEL, WE NEED REVIEW FROM THE TECHNICAL COUNCIL, THE TRC TO GET REVIEWS FROM THOSE TWO COUNCILS, THIS IS WHAT A YES VOTE DOES, HE GETS THOSE REVIEWS AND THEN FINALLY, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE EASILY DONE AND WE ARE FLEXIBLE, IT APPLIES TO WHAT WE BUILT HERE. DOWN THE ROAD, IF WE DETERMINE AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE THAT MAYBE THE PICNIC TABLE WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH, IF WE DETERMINE THERE ARE IMPROVEMENTS THAT NEED TO BE MADE OR IF THIS COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER. WE ARE ABLE TO FLEXIBLY AMEND THIS, IT IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT CAN BE FIXED, BUT THIS IS FIXING IT, TONIGHT, WE ARE DOING IS APPROVING A PLAN THAT WILL MAKE THIS A LOT BETTER FOR THE COMMUNITY.
