SINCE ITS INCEPTION, 52 YEARS AGO, ABWA, EIGHT FLAGS CHARTER CHAPTER HAS TIRELESSLY SERVED FERNANDINA BEACH WORKING WOMEN AND BUSINESS OWNERS BY BRINGING TOGETHER BUSINESSWOMEN OF DIVERSE OCCUPATIONS AND BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES TO THEM, TO HELP THEMSELVES AND OTHERS GROW PROFESSIONALLY AND PERSONALLY THROUGH LEADERSHIP, EDUCATION, NETWORKS AND LOCAL AND NATIONAL RECOGNITION. FLORIDA MINUTES WILL GOVERNMENTS PROVIDE A HIGHER LEVEL OF SERVICE THAN ANY OTHER FORM OF GOVERNMENT, AS CLOSE TO ITS CITIZENS AND HAVE A GREAT DIRECT DAILY IMPACT UPON ITS RESIDENTS.

THE GOVERNMENT FACILITATES GRASSROOTS DEMOCRACY AND PROVIDES NUMEROUS SERVICES AND PROGRAMS THAT ENHANCE RESIDENTS QUALITY OF LIFE. ALL OF WHICH MAKES THEIR CITY THEIR HOME. WHEREAS CITY GOVERNMENT IS ADMINISTERED FOR AND BY ITS CITIZENS, AND DEPENDENT UPON PUBLIC COMMITMENT TO UNDERSTANDING THE MANY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. WHEREAS CITY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PASS ALONG THE UNDERSTANDING OF PUBLIC SERVICES AND THEIR ESSENTIAL BENEFITS. >> WELCOME. >> IM LISA FINKELSTEIN, AND ALSO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR MAIN STREET. IT IS GOOD TO SEE EVERYONE. THIS IS OUR 4TH QUARTER REPORT. WE ARE GOING TO START WITH THE OBJECTIVES THAT WE SET AT THE 1ST QUARTER. WE WANTED TO COMPLETE ANY POST COVID-19 BUSINESS SURVEY WHICH WE DID IN JUNE. WE WERE LOOKING TO ASSESS THE LONG AND SHORT TERM IMPACT OF PANDEMIC HAD ON OUR BUSINESSES. THE FINANCIAL HEALTH TO THE OWNERS, THE EMPLOYEES.

THE RESPONSE RATE WAS LOW. THEY ALL RECEIVED FUNDING THROUGH THE CHARISMATIC.

ONE 100% REPORTED THAT MAINSTREET WAS HELPFUL DURING THE PERIOD.

THEY CITED INFORMATION SHARING AND SOCIAL MEDIA PROMOTION AS THE MOST BENEFICIAL SERVICES PROVIDED. EIGHT MEET AND GREET FOR ALL BUSINESSES WAS HELD IN JULY.

WE ARE CURRENTLY MEETING WITH BUSINESS OWNERS ALONG THE CORRIDOR IN ORDER TO SECURE MORE REPRESENTATION ON THE BOARD AND COUNCILS FROM THAT PART OF THE DISTRICT.

OUR NEXT MEET AND GREET EVENT WILL BE HELD DURING THE SLOWER MONTHS IN NOVEMBER.

WE WILL COMBINE BOTH BUSINESSES FOR THAT. OUR PROMOTION COUNCIL HELD A SOLD-OUT COMEDY NIGHT IN AUGUST. WE HAD A PARADE AS THEY SENT THEIR BOAT ACROSS THE ATLANTIC FOR THEIR ROLE. WE ALSO HELD OUR INAUGURAL ISLAND FESTIVAL ON SEPTEMBER 18.

BASED ON FEEDBACK, ATTENDEES, FOOD TRUCKS AND VENDORS, IT WAS A BIG SUCCESS.

THE COMMITTEE IS ALREADY WORKING ON NEXT YEARS EVENT AND TO ADD MORE ON FRIDAY AND SUNDAY TO MAKE IT A WEEKEND ATTRACTION FOR PEOPLE. THIS EVENT HAD PROCEEDS OF $42,000 WHICH WILL BE USED TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT THAT MISSION.

THE HOME TOURS THAT WERE SCHEDULED HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK TO NEXT MAY DUE TO COVID-19

SO ON TO THE FINANCIAL REPORT.

THIS IS FOR THE 11 MONTHS. THIS IS COMPARE TO THE BUDGET. THE QUARTERLY CONCERT CONTRIBUTION TO THE CITY THE FOURTH PAYMENT WAS RECEIVED IN SEPTEMBER.

EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING, THE BOOKS SALES WHICH TOTALED OVER 22,000 FOR THE 11 MONTHS AND EVENTS LIKE SIP AND SHOP, COMEDY NIGHT AND ONE THAT REPRESENTED A LITTLE OVER 31,000 OF THE TOTAL ON THAT LINE. THE MEMBER PARTNER DONATIONS INCLUDED BUSINESSES THROUGHOUT AMELIA ISLAND WHO RECOGNIZED DOWNTOWN AS THE VENTURE OF OUR CITY.

ALSO, FROM THE BUSINESSES WITHIN THE MAINSTREET BOUNDARIES. WE ARE WORKING ON A PROGRAM AND THEY HAVE REFRESHED THE MARKETING MATERIALS FOR THE PROGRAM AND WILL BE GETTING OUT INTO THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT MAINSTREET.

WE DO ANTICIPATE THE REVENUE WILL BE A MORE SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE BUDGET NEXT YEAR.

THE GRANT THIS YEAR WAS FROM THE TDC FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE PROGRAM.

IT WAS BASICALLY PASSING THROUGH YOU WILL SEE IT ON THE EXPENSE LINE.

WE ORDERED EVERYTHING THAT WENT WITH THE REGULATORY SCIENCE. WE DID APPLY FOR A $5,000 COMMUNITY GRANT FOR INTERPRETIVE SCIENCE WHICH WOULD BE PART OF THE PROJECT.

WE DID NOT RECEIVE IT FOR THAT CYCLE SO WE WILL REAPPLY. OUR REVENUE IS AT 99% OF WHAT WE BUDGETED AND WE EXPECT WE WILL KNOW WHEN WE EXCEED THE BUDGET. OUR EXPENSES, THE SALARY LINE INCLUDES THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OVERLAP WHEN I WAS ON BOARDING AND ( INDISCERNIBLE ) WAS HERE.

IT ALSO INCLUDES THE PAID INTERN WE HAVE ON STAFF THAT HELPS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA AND EVENTS DOWNTOWN. THE EXPENSES ARE REALLY ON TARGET.

IT INCLUDES ALL OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT. WE TALKED ABOUT THE DESIGN FEES AND THIS YEAR THEY WERE THE REGULATORY SCIENCE. AND THE EVENT FUNDRAISING ARE UP AND THAT IS SOLELY DUE TO THE OTHER TOPICS. WE HAD PLANNED AND BUDGETED FOR AN EVENT NOT KNOWING WHAT IT WOULD BE. WE BUDGETED A $10,000 NET REVENUE. BUT NO EXPENSES. JUST AS A NET NUMBER.

WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WOULD BE. IN JANUARY WHEN IT WAS DEVELOPED, THEN AS WE FOLLOWED

THE PRESIDENT OF THE FLORIDA BREWERS GUILD WAS ON THE ISLAND. HE IS GOING TO WORK WITH US NEXT YEAR TO BRING MORE OF HIS CRAFT BREWERS TO THE FESTIVAL. WE ARE LOOKING AT GREAT THINGS

FOR THE FIRST WEEKEND IN OCTOBER NEXT YEAR. TAKE THE OTHER THING WE HAVE BEEN BUSY WITH IS THE STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS. WE DID A SURVEY THAT WAS SENT DIRECTLY TO THE BUSINESSES, TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS OF THE FOUR COUNCILS.

I WILL GO OVER THE RESULTS IN A MINUTE. WE ALSO ESTABLISH THREE KEY GOALS FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS. WE APPROVED A BUDGET FOR THE COMING YEAR TO SUPPORT THOSE GOALS. WE DETERMINED SOME OF THE MILESTONES TO SHOW PROGRESS ON THE GOALS, AND WE HAD A SESSION WITH THE BOARD AND COUNCIL MEMBERS RECENTLY, 26 PEOPLE WERE THERE TO DEVELOP TACTICS FOR EACH OF THE COUNCILS TO WORK ON IN THE COMING YEAR.

THE NEXT STEP IS TO ADD THAT INTO THE OPERATING PLAN AND CREATE A LIVING DOCUMENT THAT EACH COUNCIL CAN USE AS THE YEAR GOES ON TO GUIDE THEIR PROGRESS. THIS WILL THEN BECOME THE WORK PLAN WE PRESENT AS PART OF OUR ACCREDITATION IN JANUARY. THE SURVEY THAT WE DID WENT OUT TO MAINSTREET DISTRICT BUSINESSES. IT ONLY HAD THREE QUESTIONS.

THE FIRST WAS, WHICH EVENTS OR SERVICES WERE OF VALUE TO YOUR BUSINESS.

WE GAVE THEM NINE TO CHOOSE FROM. YOU CAN SEE THE WEEKLY E-MAIL UPDATES THAT ARE SENT OUT BY MAINSTREET TO THE BUSINESSES, LETTING THEM KNOW ABOUT WEBINARS, FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES OR EVENTS DOWNTOWN, STREET CLOSURES, WHATEVER IS GOING ON, WE SIN ANY -- A WEEKLY E-MAIL. FIXING POTHOLES AND SOLVING TRASH ISSUES, ADDRESSING HOMELESSNESS AND DEDICATING POLICE TO PATROL DOWNTOWN. I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THE SAFETY ALONG EIGHTH STREET. THAT CAME UP IN WHAT NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED AND THE TOP CHALLENGES FOR THE BUSINESS. THAT IS DEFINITELY AN AREA OF CONCERN TO LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS. WE USE THESE TO DEVELOP OUR GOALS.

OUR MISSION IS TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC VITALITY IN THE DISTRICT.

THE CORE VALUES PROVIDE SUPPORT AND BE SUSTAINABLE AND PRESERVING AND PROMOTING FOR THE BENEFIT OF FUTURE GENERATIONS. THE RESPONSIBLE AND BE STEWARDS. LEAVE THINGS BETTER THAN WE FOUND THEM. WITH THIS IN MIND THE THREE GOALS WE DEVELOPED WERE TO DIVERSIFY OUR REVENUE STREAMS, WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE EQUAL AND THAT SIGNATURE FUNDRAISING AND PARTNERS. GENERAL ADMINISTRATION REFLECTS AN INCREASE IN RENT AND WEBSITE MAINTENANCE AND ADDITIONAL INSURANCE TO COVER VOLUNTEERS. THE PROJECT EXPENSES LESS BECAUSE THE REGULATORY SIDE PROJECT IS OUT OF IT. MAKE SURE IT INCLUDES A PORTION OF THE INTERPRETIVE SIGNS, AGAIN ASSUMING WE GET GRANT FUNDING AND ALSO, SOME PLANT MATERIALS, AS WE ARE LAUNCHING PROGRAMS WITHIN OUR ORGANIZATION. THERE ARE MANY PUBLIC PARKING SPACES THERE. IT SERVES NOT ONLY THE HOUSES AROUND IT BUT THE HOMES ALONG FIRST AVENUE. PLUS DOZENS OF PARKING SPACES THAT ARE PUBLIC PARKING PLUS THE SMALL PARKING AREA. THIS MAKES A LOT OF SENSE TO PUT IN. PUTTING IN A WALK OVER THERE IMPROVES THE DOOMED SYSTEM WHICH GETS WIPED OUT. THE SYSTEM WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GROW AND STRENGTHEN.

AND SOME OF THE PEDESTRIAN PRESSURE OFF OF THE BEACH WHERE THE VEHICLES ARE.

PEOPLE CAN WALK UP THE SIDEWALK GO TO THE PEDESTRIAN BEACH IT TAKES A LOT OF PRESSURE AND INCREASES THE SAFETY FACTOR THIS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. WE BELIEVE, THERE ARE SO MANY POSITIVES THAT CAN COME OUT OF FOLLOWING UP AND PROVIDING A WALKOVER. I WILL MENTION, IN OUR RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WE PRESENTED IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR AND AS A FOLLOW UP YOU REVIEWED THE REPORT.

UNDERSTANDING THAT THE FUNDING OF SO MANY OF THESE BOARDWALKS THAT NEED TO BE REBUILT OR INSTALLED IS A VERY HEALTHY PRICE TAG WE UNDERSTAND THAT. AND WE UNDERSTAND THAT IT HAS TO BE PUT INTO A BUDGET. WE HAVE TO WORK THROUGH THE GRANT PROCESS AS WELL AS OPPORTUNITIES THAT MAY PRESENT THEMSELVES. WE STARTED WITH SIX NORTH.

IT IS IN PROGRESS. THIS WAS OUR SECOND CHOICE BUT 40 HAS A VERY EXPENSIVE PRICE TAG. THERE IS INCREDIBLE RESILIENCE BUILT INTO BEACH ACCESS 40 AND THE FACT OF THE PIPE AND THE LENGTH OF THE DUNES THAT EXISTS THERE ARE VERY PROTECTIVE AND IT PROVIDES RESILIENCY THAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR. WHEN WE LOOK AT AREAS THAT DO NEED OUR HELP, BEACH ACCESS 16 IS ONE OF THOSE. TO FIND AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE WE HAVE TODAY, TO GO AHEAD AND COMMIT TO LOOKING AT THE SMALLER BUT FRAGILE ENVIRONMENTS WHERE WE CAN DO GOOD BOARDWALKS AND STRENGTHEN THE SYSTEMS IN THE AREAS, I THINK THAT IS VERY POSITIVE FOR RESILIENCY IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE SAY, WE ARE NOT LEAVING BEHIND OUR SCHEDULE. IT WAS ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD IT WOULD BE BASED ON BUDGETS AND THE WILL OF THE COMMISSION AS TO WHICH OPPORTUNITIES WOULD PRESENT THEMSELVES.
